Teaching and understanding the function, the role and the existence of music in cinema and television; developing a dramaturgical feeling and cultivating an aesthetic perception for the correct manipulation of music in cinema.

Monday 21:00  New Queer Cinema [1st semester only]

«New Queer Cinema» is a term used to describe art films imbued with a critical-emancipatory dimension and created by filmmakers inspired by the LGBT identity movement and the queer culture that flourished after the 1990s. Discussions are supplemented by the screening of representative films.

Thursday 21:00  Existentialism in Cinema  [1st semester only]

An enquiry concerning the relationship between the cinematic art form and the philosophical movement of existentialism, in terms of their mutual ability to describe the human condition in limit-situations such as failure, pain, guilt, and death. Discussions are supplemented by the screening of representative films.

Sunday 20.00  Horror Cinema  [1st semester only]

Screening of horror films: emphasis on films that represent specific movements within the genre and on films that allow multidimensional and allegorical readings or demonstrate the diversity of the means with which the representation of horror (either supernatural or not) can be more effective.
