Basic technical knowledge required for film shooting, camera usage, experimental short film projects and editing in 8 mm and 16 mm film.

Screening and analysis of Korean films.

Tuesday 21:00 Modernism in Cinema (Manos Katsoulis)

Movies which contributed to shaping, developing and modernising the film language; experimental cinema, free cinema, poetic documentaries, abstract film, cult cinema.

Wednesday 20:30 Live Cinema (Alexandros Synodinos, Vangelis Tsakas)

The term «Live Cinema» refers to real-time audiovisual creation. Theory, screenings and training in the basic methods of Live Cinema. The goal is the production of audiovisual work by the participants of the seminar.

Introduction to cinema technology and the film equipment used in the Cinema Section.

 

Thursday 20:30 Aspiring Filmmaker (Alex Skouras)

Theoretical seminar exploring the aesthetics of cinema and the techniques of film direction and screenplay writing through the analysis of film excerpts and sequences.

Friday 21:00 Cinema Classics (Dimitris Routsis, Christos Theodorogiannis)

Screening of films from the classic era of cinema.

Saturday 15:00 Film Direction Projects (Vassilis Martsakis assisted by Anna Gradou, Praxitelis Mastoras, Alexandros Orfanopoulos, Stavros Triantos, Katerina Tsoukala, and Mairi Hatzieleftheriou)

Discovering film grammar and the basic principles of film direction step-by-step through practical exercises. 

 

Saturday 19:00 The Saturday Screening (Alexandros Kalaitzis)

Selection, screening and presentation of feature and short-length films by members of the Cinema Section.

Sunday 17:00 Italian Auteurs [1st semester only] (Nikos Mavros) 

 

A retrospective devoted to the work of influential filmmakers of the postbellum era. .

Sunday 17:00 Cinema and Interpersonal Relationships  [2nd semester only] (Giorgos Angelakis)

Elucidating the human condition under certain defining circumstances (Love – Friendship – Family – Workspace – Social environment – Circumstances of imposed co-existence – Power relations).

Sunday 20:00 Horror Cinema (Alexandros Kalaitzis, Olga Laskari, Giorgos Pantelis)

Screening of horror films. Emphasis on films that represent specific movements within the genre and on films that allow multidimensional and allegorical readings or demonstrate the diversity of the means with which the representation of horror (either supernatural or not) can be more effective.
